BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Bills landed a new top target for quarterback Josh Allen, agreeing to a trade with the Chicago Bears to acquire wide receiver DJ Moore, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.
The trade cannot officially be processed until the new league year begins next Wednesday. Terms for the deal are still being finalized.
Moore, who turns 29 on April 14, will be reunited with new Bills head coach Joe Brady. He played under Brady with the Carolina Panthers when Brady was the team's offensive coordinator in 2020 and for most of the 2021 season (fired in December). Two of his best career seasons came under Brady in Carolina, including averaging a career-high 18.1 yards per catch in 2020 and totaling over 1,100 receiving yards both years.
Moore is under contract through the 2029 season and is scheduled to make a base salary of $23.5 million in 2026.
Moore had 50 receptions for 682 yards (both career lows) and six touchdowns last season, his third with the Bears. In three seasons with Chicago, he had 244 catches for 3,012 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Bills president of football operations and general manager Brandon Beane also traded for a wide receiver during the 2020 offseason, giving up a first-round pick as part of a deal for receiver Stefon Diggs, who played for the organization for four seasons.
The wide receiver position was a significant need for the Bills this offseason given a lack of consistency at the position throughout the 2025 season. He'll join a receiver room for the 2026 season that has some question marks regarding their status outside of Khalil Shakir, including Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer and Curtis Samuel, Moore's former Panthers teammate.
